Heather HansWant to get a new perspective on something? Try laughing at it. I want to share with you a secret to happy people. They don’t take life too seriously. Researchers have found we don’t even need a reason to laugh, but that when we laugh all of these functions start happening in our bodies that relax us and heal us. The important part to know is that we don’t have to have a reason. We don’t have to have the funniest joke in the world in order to laugh.
We can create our own laughter. Give it a try. Laugh. Now, try laughing at something you normally would definitely not laugh at. For example, get a bill in the mail. Laugh! Laugh at yourself, of course laugh at others, and laugh often. Find what it is that does make you laugh and bring more of that into your life.
We don’t laugh much as adults. We’ve become crusty. If you look at children you see that they laugh at the tiniest things. They are amused at the littlest things and they benefit from that laughter. We need to bring in that same zest for life and as you do that your perspective will shift. It brings us away from our problems, away from the mundane and lets us look at life from a whole new perspective.
What is funny to you, and what’s NOT funny to you, and how can you make it funny?
