Are you type A or type B personality?
There are a lot of different characteristics that make up type A or type B. Probably the one that’s most well-known is that type A’s are accomplishers. They’re go-getters. Sometimes if you are a go-getter, and even if not, you do things to cross them off or to reach the next goal, but you can lose sight of your own feelings. You can lose sight of what’s going on internally.
When you follow your joy in this life you are on the right path.
What I mean about following your joy is not like a hippy, “Follow your joy, man!” “Follow your peace. It’s all about peace and love, Dude!” No. I mean when you do what feels right to you; what your body’s telling you, what all the signals around you are telling you, from the littlest things, like maybe it’s time to rest for 10 minutes, because your body’s tired or maybe this other venture brings you more passion than the one that you’re currently doing, that’s what I mean by following your joy.
Follow what feels natural to you. Go with the flow. Follow the stream, the current. That’s how you will embody all of what you’re meant to embody, because it uses less energy, and also it engages your drive and your true passion. We never have to try to be passionate. You’re either passionate or not, and everyone has passions. There are certain things that bring out our passions and it’s different for each person. What brings out your passion?
What makes you feel joyful? Sometimes feeling joyful means resting when your body needs to rest. Maybe it means going outside when you’ve been cooped inside all day and spending 5 minutes sitting on a bench. That could bring you joy in that moment. Follow the flow. Listen to your body. Listen to your internal wisdom, your gut, your heart. Listen to your mind, which is also part of the body. We often think of the mind as just chattering away and being disconnected from our body, but the mind is part of the body and when it’s functioning right, it’s in sync. The mind gives you good clues too. Follow that passion, follow that joy in the moment. Be aligned with it, and it’s always ok.
When you think that you can’t put this aside for 5 minutes, because you’ve got to meet this deadline, it’s baloney. Human beings design their own responsibilities and deadlines. Follow what you know feels right in that moment. This doesn’t always mean doing what’s easy! Sometimes if you’re training for a race going out for a hard run isn’t the easy thing to do, but somewhere it’s bringing you joy. Somewhere it’s bringing you passion. It’s bringing you aliveness, otherwise you wouldn’t have chosen to run that race. If it’s not bringing those things to you, don’t run the race!
Where is your joy and passion, and where does your intuition and body guide you today?
