I was so happy at birth and it was a joyous occasion, so they say, that my parents named me Heather Gay.

But then I became a gothic teen and changed my name from Gay to Gray. I grew up when it was cool to be depressed, sarcastic, and pessimistic. Hey, I’m Gen X. Poor economy, latchkey kid, cocaine 80’s divorced parents out partying. But now I’m bringing it back full circle to what my hippy, idealist, baby-boomer parents named me, which was Heather Gay.

The reason I’m alive is to channel love in all its various forms.

Life’s brought me large doses of suffering, but at my core I’m a happy cat. I’m blessed by God. How could I not be happy about that?

Just like that happy rainbow that loves bringing a smile to people’s faces, my favorite lullaby my mom sang to me as a kid was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” favorite picture to draw was the rainbow until I discovered the female nude.

Wouldn’t it be beautiful to see Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Non-religious Spirituals, Agnostics, and Atheists co-exist in harmony and respect, like the colors of a rainbow?

I love men and I love women, just like I love vanilla and I love chocolate.

Prince was my biggest crush of all time. Perfect blend of feminine & masculine energy. Carl Jung called this anima.

Rainbows are magical because they promise your problems will pass and say follow your heart’s desire.

I ask kids what their favorite color is and they say rainbows. They don’t like being limited to just one color and I don’t blame them! This world has it all for us. Someone to love, someone to protect, someone to submit to, someone to direct, someone to dazzle, someone to admire, someone to collab with, someone to cry on. Happiness is all about creating with what you’ve got right in front of you and when you do, the rainbow follows!

I was born Heather Gay! Who were you born as?
